steve garside artist & writer

Steve Garside was born and raised in the North West of England. He left school with no qualifications and painted council estate fences on a govt training scheme. The tutors available for the college part of the scheme taught Steve the finer points of decorating which included marbling and graining techniques.

After completing the training scheme, Steve joined the armed forces and was posted to a unit based in the UK. During his time in the forces, he was fortunate enough not to be posted to a conflict zone and spent his four years sweeping car parks and meeting people from the places he was posted to, which included Cyprus and the Falkland Islands. The former of which presented an opportunity to visit Jerusalem.

Post discharge from the forces, Steve drifted through several jobs, before he attended university to gain an education.

Steve considers himself to be a passenger in all things and has focused his life's memories to date into his art and the writing of prose and poetry.

Steve has had no formal training in art, and was given his first set of brushes by someone who had received them as a gift for themselves.
