I had the idea of scanning photographs taken several years ago and altering the light and contrast on each and then painting the results. In all, I completed six paintings, the sixth not featured here, but given as a gift to a friend. All five views posted are oil on canvas, the dimensions being twelve by ten inches. I completed these paintings in July 2007.
I wanted to paint night views as I had not tried this before. I found that completing the views enabled a slightly different style and offered an opportunity to use gold acrylic paint to emphasise certain points on each canvas.
